We live 3 hours away from Padre Island.
Taking a trip to the beach is a bit of a drive but nothing compared to the 14 hour drive we are about to make to go home and visit family so any chance we get to go to the beach on a hot summer weekend, we take it!
This was our first trip of the summer!
On the Island! We stopped at our favorite little local beach shop, bought kites, a boogie board for Aveline (the boys got new ones for Christmas but we forgot about Avie!), took potty breaks and headed out for a new adventure to Port Aransas (simply so we could cross and re-cross the ferry with the kids). We probably won't head to PA again this summer because we really like where we normally go but it was fun to go across the ferry and to drive through another small beach town.
The boys were crazy about this giant octopus.
I wish my kids could grow up riding in the back of golf carts to and from local places along the beach.
We hopped out of the van for a few pictures and a closer look at the ferry,
sometimes there are dolphins that swim right across the water with the ferry .. not that day.
We're here! Our secluded little beach spot. We were in for a shock when we saw the waves and the sea weed, I guess the sand hasn't been cleared from all winter yet so it was really dirty with things from the ocean, not trash just sea weed and other aquatic stuff.
Even though it was a dreary, dreadfully windy day the kids still had a ton of fun!
Nidas' favorite part about the trip was Jared "teaching" him how to boogie board. :)
Oliver tried it once, hated it at first, loved it in the middle and hated it again at the end.
Hopefully when we get back from THE ZOU we'll hit the beach up a few more times and it will be cleared up and even more enjoyable!!
